Looking for the old ytmp3 site? Read this first
If you searched "ytmp3" expecting a specific site you used years ago, you may have noticed it's gone — or worse, that a dozen lookalike domains now claim the name. The original high-profile ytmp3 converters have been shut down, sold, or blocked in various countries, and their abandoned brand recognition made "ytmp3" the most-cloned name in this space.
Many of those clones are harmless-but-ugly ad farms. Some are not harmless at all: security researchers have repeatedly found fake converter sites serving browser hijackers and notification spam. The name alone tells you nothing about who runs the site today.
So instead of hunting for a name, judge the behavior — the checklist below works on any converter site, including this one.
The 30-second trust check for any converter site
✅ Stay when you see
- One input box, one Convert button, one Download button
- Everything runs in the browser — nothing to install
- HTTPS padlock in the address bar
- A privacy policy and contact page you can actually open
- The MP3 downloads as a file, not an installer
🚩 Leave when you see
- Fake "Download" banners that open other sites
- Requests to allow notifications before converting
- "Update your browser/player to continue" pop-ups
- A download that is an .exe, .apk or .dmg instead of .mp3
- Endless redirects with a new domain on every click
ytconvert.net passes every item on the left: no ads on the converter, no installs, no notification requests, and files are never stored after delivery. If you ever see this site fail the checklist, assume the domain has changed hands and stop using it.
