Why some videos can't be downloaded in HD
A converter can only deliver what YouTube actually hosts. If a creator uploaded in 480p — common for videos from before 2010, phone uploads on slow connections, or re-uploads of older content — there is no HD master to fetch. We always grab the highest resolution YouTube offers for that video, and we never fake it by upscaling: an upscaled file is just a bigger file with zero extra detail.
To check before converting: open the video on YouTube, click the ⚙️ gear icon → Quality. The top number in that list is the ceiling for your download. If it says 1080p or higher, you're set. If it tops out at 480p, no tool on earth can give you HD from that upload — your best option is finding a higher-quality re-upload from an official channel.
